about

This collection of finely crafted original fingerstyle guitar instrumentals was inspired by the peace and beauty of northern Michigan.

released December 22, 2016

Two outstanding luthiers from the area graciously allowed me to use their guitars for some of the tunes on this recording:

Jim Howard of Howard Guitars in Boyne City, MI, loaned me a J1 model (sitka spruce top, sapele back and sides, with cutaway and arm bevel), which was used on One Thing or Another and Breezy.
Jim Howard (jim@howardguitars.com; www.howardguitars.com)

Tim Van Every of Van Every Guitars in Harbor Springs, MI, loaned me a Grand Concert model (sitka spruce top, East Indian rosewood back and sides), which was used on Morning Paddle and Red Sky, First Star.

From my personal collection, I used a McIlroy A25c on Emmet County, Loons on Wycamp Lake, and Good Hart Farewell; and a Martin CEO-7 on the rest of the tunes.

Acknowledgements:
Much appreciation to Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Petoskey, MI for allowing me to record several tunes in their beautiful sanctuary.

Many, many thanks to Anne Morningstar for providing gorgeous original artwork for this CD.

Immense gratitude to John Warstler for his patience, equanimity, and diligence in recording these tunes (and dealing with numerous takes and mistakes).

Hats off to Scott Zylstra for his mastering magic and wizardry.
